A crew member from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 367 conducts pre-flight checks on a CH-53E Super Stallion, prior to departing for a visit to Pohakuloa Training Area on the Island of Hawaii, Jan. 10. Marines are currently conducting training on PTA as part of Exercise Lava Viper. The training area is vital to the tenant commands stationed on MCB Hawaii. No other training environment within the Marine Corps provides such wide variety of operational training as the ranges among the Hawaiian Islands.
