Army Reserve opens March Armed Forces Center

U.S. Army Reserve Major General Bruce Casella, Commanding General of the 63rd Regional Support Command, Moffett Field and 63rd Regional Readiness Command, Los Alamitos, California, kicked off the ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 3 at the new March Armed Forces Reserve Center with opening remarks. 

The center adds four buildings totaling over 132,000 square feet and contains a large vehicle maintenance facility, arms vault, unit supply offices and equipment caging, weapons simulator and training center that includes a distance learning center. Sixteen existing buildings were demolished and meeting sustainable design goals was a part of the work. 

The new facilities, of which guests were given a walking tour, will support Army units from the 371st CSSB, 329th QM Company, Det. 2/413th Drill Instructor, 437th Ambulance Company, 806th Postal Company, 491st Military Police Company, 374th Chemical Company (BIDS), 376th AG Postal, 7230th Medical Hospital and 304th Movement Control Team (MCT). 

The new administrative building, built as an attachment to an existing Army National Guard facility, houses the Family Support Office and Physical Readiness Center. 

Guests at the ribbon-cutting event included Brig. Gen. Scott Johnson, Commanding General, 41st Infantry Division, California National Guard; Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Perris, Mark Yarbrough; and members of the March Joint Powers Authority. 

The U.S. Army Reserve's 300th Army Band provided background and ceremonial music.
