Mr. Hashimoto is a member of the federal government’s Senior Executive Service and was appointed as Executive Director, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC) on 15 November 2019. Prior to his appointment he held plans and policy billets within Headquarters, MARFORPAC since August 1999.
MARFORPAC is the regional headquarters for all Marine Corps forces assigned to the Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. This includes Marine Corps units based across the region from the southwest United States to northeast Asia and consists of approximately 70,000 Marines and sailors.
He is a key strategic leader with extensive regional experience who provides executive leadership, managerial direction, and program expertise for all command functions. His primary functions are to guide organizational policy decisions, develop strategic constituencies, and apply system-level thinking to the command’s most intractable challenges.
Mr. Hashimoto was born and raised in Honolulu. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration from UCLA before his commissioning as a Marine Corps officer through the Officer Candidate Class Ground Program in 1992.
He served on active duty as an infantry officer from 1992 to 1998 before transitioning to the Marine Corps Reserve. As a reservist he held numerous command and senior leader billets and retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in April 2024 at the rank of major general.
He is a graduate of the USMC Amphibious Warfare School Non-Resident, USMC Command and Staff College Distance Education, Air War College Distance Learning, and Joint Forces Staff College Advanced Joint Professional Military Education programs as well as the Capstone General and Flag Office Course.
