U.S. and Philippine Marines trained together on firing procedures for the M777 Howitzer to build their combined capabilities. Balikatan is an annual Philippines-U.S. military bilateral training exercise that is a signature element of the Philippine-U.S. alliance focused on a variety of missions to include humanitarian assistance maritime law enforcement, and environment protection.
