Vittorio Roces, center, discusses donations of medical supplies to the Bigaa Health Center with Philippine Army Capt. Virgilio Perez, left, and U.S. Marine Maj. Grace Janosek May 5 in Bigaa, Albay province, Philippines. The donations were a part of the humanitarian civil assistance programs held during Exercise Balikatan, an annual bilateral training exercise held with Philippine and U.S. forces to strengthen the relationship between the two nations. “It’s an honor to receive this assistance in Legazpi City,” said Roces, the acting mayor of Legazpi City. Perez is a civil affairs officer with 9th Infantry Division, and Janosek is a civil affairs team leader with civil affairs detachment, G3, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
