Retired Fleet Marine Forces Pacific Sergeant Major "Iron Mike" Mervosh and Marines from U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific and Marine Corps Base Hawaii get a briefing on the history of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor from Pacific Fleet Boathouse Sailors before embarking on a boat tour of historic sites around Ford Island, April 2. Mervosh, who is vacationing in Hawaii, told the Marines present that he enjoyed meeting each of them, and that they help him keep his connection to the Marine Corps and his motivation alive and strong. Mervosh, who will be 90 in June, also encouraged them to follow his example; he still "PTs" four times weekly. Mervosh served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired in 1977 with nearly 20 years in grade as a sergeant major.
