Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael Smith, the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band director, and James Ransley, reporter, introduce the MarForPac band during a live broadcast on New Zealand's morning news show, TVNZ Breakfast, here June 13. Military bands from both countries were present June 14, 1942, when 1st Marine Division landed in Wellington, and they will play a significant role in the commemoration events, which conclude June 22. Smith said being in New Zealand to celebrate the 70th anniversary of U.S. Marines landing in Wellington was a great opportunity for his Marines to learn and take a piece of history back home with them.
