Joint forces with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command participate in exercise Valiant Shield 24, June 7-18, 2024, in Palau. Valiant Shield is a biennial, multinational field exercise focused on enhancing interoperability across multiple domains. Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, led a joint contingent of more than 600 service members in Palau including elements of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the U.S. Army’s 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force, the U.S. Air Force 27th Fighter Squadron, and the U.S. Navy’s Underwater Construction Team TWO, 30th Naval Construction Regiment. U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct night marksmanship training on the flight deck of San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27) in the Indian Ocean, June 26, 2026. The 11th MEU, embarked aboard the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, is a persistent, combat credible force contributing to deterrence and crisis response in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. Marines Partner with State and Federal Agencies for Endangered Desert Bighorn Sheep
U.S. Marines with Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLAT) 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, supports a wildlife project at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, June 12-14, 2026. HMLAT-303 partnered with the California Wild Sheep Foundation, California State Parks, Back Country Hunters & Anglers, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Service to transport water to remote emergency stations for endangered desert Peninsular bighorn sheep, while developing instructor pilots through real-world load operations and strengthening interagency relationships. Marines with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, and senior leaders from across the Indo-Pacific region take part in the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium 2026 in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 16-18, 2026. U.S. Marines with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance, 1st Marine Division, along with Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 169 and Marine Special Operations Command conduct an in-aircraft, first person view unmanned aircraft system integration with an airborne UH-1Y Venom at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, June 16, 2026. The collaborative exercise allowed Marines to determine the feasibility of using FPV UAS from an aircraft to assist MARSOC in fast roping operations onto moving ship.
