March 2024 MARFORPAC Highlights
Throughout the month of March 2024, Pacific Marines were actively involved in various training and exercises, to include Iron Fist 24 and Cobra Gold 24, two large-scale annual exercises which further strengthen regional partnerships and operational effectiveness. Some of the training featured includes free-fall operations and room clearing training with the Royal Thai Marine Corps, bilateral flights between 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and the Republic of Korea Marine Air Group, and 3rd Marine Division live-fire exercises. Pacific Marines are consistently engaged with Allies and partners throughout the theater to improve mutual capabilities and interoperability in support of shared security objectives as well as promote a free and open Indo-Pacific. U.S. Marines with 12th LCT Execute Company Attacks During a CALFEX
U.S. Marines with 12th Littoral Combat Team, 12th Marine Littoral Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, execute company-sized attacks during a Combined-Arms Live-Fire Exercise at Rodriguez Live-Fire Complex, Republic of Korea, Feb. 26-March 4, 2026. 12th LCT Marines executed a company-level CALFEX, integrating organic and supporting fires, maneuver elements, and reconnaissance capabilities to conduct a coordinated assault on a designated objective. The range strengthened the unit’s ability to synchronize fires and movement in a dynamic training environment while enhancing combat effectiveness and overall readiness. 13th MEU Forms Complete MAGTF
The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit has officially formed as a complete Marine Air-Ground Task Force with the addition of its major subordinate elements, bringing the MEU’s full capability together under one command. 13th MEU Command Element welcomed Battalion Landing Team 2/4, which will serve as the Ground Combat Element; Combat Logistics Battalion 13, which will serve as the Logistics Combat Element; and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 364 and Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211, which together form the Aviation Combat Element. Task Force Ashland Marines, Sailors Participate in Exercise Cobra Gold 2026
U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to Task Force Ashland, I Marine Expeditionary Force, participate in an amphibious assault, non-combatant evacuation operation, maritime strike, jungle warfare training, and combined arms live fire exercise during Exercise Cobra Gold 2026 in Thailand, Feb. 24 to March 3, 2026.
