U.S. Marines with the 11th Marine Expeditionary participate in a cultural tour at Bonama War Cemetery in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, as part of a theater security cooperation exchange with PNG Defense Force, April 18, 2017.

Led by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and hosted by the Royal Army of Oman, the annual, two-weeklong bilateral exercise aims to enhance communication and coordination between U.S. and Omani forces, build mutual warfighting capability, and support long-term regional cooperation.The training includes: military operations on urban terrain (MOUT), building clearing, checkpoint operations, command and control procedures, counter-IED training, live-fire ranges, squad to company tactics, mortar ranges, and a culminating final exercise, which will be a combined Omani-U.S. raid. U.S. units participating in Sea Soldier are the 11th MEU’s Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines; Combat Logistics Battalion 11; the MEU’s Command Element; and USS Somerset. The Marines and Sailors debarked from the USS Somerset, Feb. 15, to prepare for Exercise Sea Soldier.

U.S. Marines with Tank Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in Exercise Alligator Dagger in Djibouti, Africa, Dec. 6-22. This exercise enabled the tank platoon to conduct multiple firing ranges, practice tank formations, and perform annual maintenance. This exercise provided an opportunity for the three ships of the Makin-Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th MEU to come together and conduct amphibious training within the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Gunnery Sgt. Robert B. Brown Jr. directed this video and provided supplemental videography. Lance Cpl. Zachery Laning edited and provided the bulk of the videography.

U.S. Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit participate in Exercise Alligator Dagger in Djibouti, Africa, Dec. 6-22, 2016. The unilateral exercise provided an opportunity for the Makin-Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th MEU to train in amphibious operations and combat sustainment training ashore in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The 11th MEU is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet's mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region.

Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct sustainment training at Marine Corps Base Hawaii and Marine Corps Training Area Bellows at Oahu, Hawaii, October 14-19, 2016. The MRF training included combat marksmanship, close-quarters battle drills, and parachute familiarization operations. The training took place in conjunction with the MEU's Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.

13th MEU Combat Camera, Camp Pendleton (October 6, 2016) - WestPac-16 deployment February 2016 to September 2016. The 13th MEU deployed to 5th and 7th fleet area of operations providing close air support to Iraqi security forces and the coalition fighting ISIL in Operation Inherent Resolve. The Fighting 13th supported the UAE-led coalition fighting Al Qaeda in Mukalla, Yemen. The Fighting 13th participated in multinational training exercises SSang Yong in South Korea and Eager Lion in Jordan. The Fighting 13th participated in theater security cooperation engagements with military counterparts in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. U.S. Marines and Sailors with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct its Certification Exercise off the coast of California, Sept. 7-23, 2016. CERTEX is the final exercise, in which the MEU is evaluated and certified to deploy to the Central and Pacific Commands' areas of responsibilities during their upcoming WestPac 16-2 deployment.

Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct an air-inserted land-base raid on a combat town as part of the MEU's field training exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 12, 2016. During the raid, the Marines inserted into the site via MV-22 Osprey and CH-53 Super Stallion aircraft and were tasked with retrieving a simulated high-value target and exfiltrating from the area hastily. MEUEX serves as the first major exercise of the 11th MEU's pre-deployment training cycle as they work toward their upcoming West Pacific 16-2 deployment.
