Marines with Combined Anti-Armor Team 2, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, conduct TOW battle drills with heavy machine guns and anti-armor weapon systems. Marines with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, conduct a live-fire training exercise on Range 222 here, Sept. 4 and 5. The Alpha Co. Marines fired Mk-19 grenade launchers, .50 caliber machine guns, M249 squad automatic weapon and M240B medium machine guns Sept. 4 and 5 to crosstrain and refine their skills with each weapon system. Throughout the two days of shooting, the Marines were evaluated as they engaged multiple targets with each weapon system at ranges of 400 to 1,200 meters away.

As part of the pre-deployment training of Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marines from across the spectrum of military occupational specialties trained in the operation of the M240G machine gun and M249 squad automatic weapon systems. Operating on the ground as well as from High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle turrets, 34 CLB-31 Marines honed their machine-gunning skills to remain ready for any contingency.
