3d Law Enforcement Battalion Deactivation
U.S. Marines with 3rd Law Enforcement (LE) Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (III MIG), participate in the deactivation of the unit and pay tribute to their time while serving in 3rd LE on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 6, 2021. The deactivation of the battalion is the result of the Marine Corps shifting its focus to redesigning a more flexible and dynamic Fleet Marine Force with divestments in certain elements, including command elements like law enforcement. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific region’s information environment, and supports MAGTF operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities.
