Cpl. Trevor Cron keeps Marines and Sailors on the USNS Millinocket fed during their voyage to Cambodia, Oct. 28, 2016. Service members embarked on the USNS Millinocket were on their way to participate in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come. Last year, Marines with Food Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, earned the 2013 Major General W.P.T. Hill Memorial Award for Best Field Mess. On Feb. 26, 2014, aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., a team selected by the National Restaurant Association judged the field mess aboard to determine if the servicemembers would continue their reign as champions. Mr. Chuck Carter, retired gunnery sergeant and a current chow hall employee at the 21 Area chow hall on Camp Pendleton, Calif., shares his life experiences. Carter served 29 years in the Marine Corps, served in the Vietnam War, was a champion boxer and boxing coach. He now spreads his motivation to younger Marines by playing music for them and greeting them everyday at the chow hall. Available in High Definition.
