III MSB hosts rifle and shotgun training
U.S. Marines assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force Support Battalion and III MEF Information Group conduct rifle and shotgun training on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, May 8-9, 2023. The training was held to familiarize the Marines with the various weapons systems. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific regions information environment, and supports Marine Air Ground Task Force operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities. U.S. Marines gain ground with non-lethal weapons
U.S. Marines 1st Lt. Wyatt McAlpine, a platoon commander, and Sgt. Alexander Aberle, a platoon sergeant, both with Company A, 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, explain the significant capability that Company A can provide through training to combine crowd control techniques with non-lethal weapons during non-lethal weapons training at Landing Zone Wren, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 15, 2019. During the three-day training event, military policemen further crowd-control training with additional equipment and combine those techniques with non-lethal weapons including batons, Mossberg 500 shotguns, M32 Multiple Grenade Launchers, M203 grenade launchers, and Sting Ball Grenades. Combat engineers with 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, participated in tactical marksmanship courses at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 25, 2018. The Marines completed Combat Marksmanship Program Tables 5 and 6, as well as a ballistic breaching course with M1014 shotguns and a machine gun course with M240B and M249 Squad Automatic Weapons to enhance their warfighting abilities on the battlefield. Combat engineers often augment infantry units during exercises and deployments, which requires tactical proficiency with multiple weapons systems in various environments. Marines with 1st Law Enforcement Battalion conduct a series of live-fire shoots with assault rifles, pistols and shotguns at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 27, 2016. The purpose of the shoot is to perfect Marines’ weapon handling skills in order to build their confidence in accurately discharging their weapons systems. Interview 1: 1st Lt. Matthew Borkowski is a platoon commander with Company B, 1st LEB. Borkowski is from Islip, New York. Interview 2: Lance Cpl. James Overstreet is a military policeman with Company C, 1st LEB. Overstreet is from Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
