U.S. Marines with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Iwakuni, Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 171, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, and 3rd Marine Logistics Group, worked alongside airmen with 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, 9th Mission Support Group, 99th Civil Engineer Squadron, 99th Mission Support Group, 316th Civil Engineer Squadron, 316th Mission Support Group, 355th Civil Engineer Squadron, 355th Mission Support Group, 35th Civil Engineer Squadron, and 35th Mission Support Group, to participate in Exercise Tanuki Bandit at Draughon Range, Aomori, Japan, June 24-28, 2024. Tanuki Bandit promotes readiness for Explosive Ordnance Disposal members in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force by training them as integrated teams for a variety of scenarios. Balikatan 2019: Airmen, Marines showcases airpower to local kids social media video

Thirty-five local children from Sapang Bato Elementary School visited Clark Air Base during Exercise Balikatan, April 6, 2019 to meet U.S. Airmen and Marines and learn about their jobs. Children saw various aircraft and military equipment and received school supplies. Balikatan is a Tagalog phrase meaning “shoulder-to-shoulder,” which characterizes the spirit of the exercise and represents the partnership between the U.S. and the Philippines. Military working dog handlers from Pacific Air Forces and their counterparts from the Philippine Air Force shared best practices during a subject matter expert exchange April 3, 2019, in support of Exercise Balikatan. The exchange focused on various techniques including explosive detection, adjusting to gunfire and search and rescue. Exercise Balikatan, in its 35th iteration, is an annual U.S.-Philippine military training focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, counterterrorism, and other combined military operations. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency partnered with the University of New Orleans, University of Innsbruck and the National World War II Museum to search for U.S. Army Air Forces Capt. Lawrence E. Dickson, a Tuskegee Airman assigned to the 100th Fighter Squadron based in Ramitelli, Italy. Capt. Dickson experienced engine trouble while returning from a reconnaissance mission in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Dec. 23, 1944 and has since been considered missing in action. (DoD video by Staff Sgt.
