As the Columbus Day weekend begins, military members share a friendly reminder to drink responsibly as all the outgoing traffic leaves for the weekend on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, October 7, 2016. “You deserve to have four days off, but I need you to drink responsibly,” said Sgt. Maj Lee D. Bonar, the III Marine Expeditionary Force sergeant major. “I need you to make sure we take care of each other and watch each other’s backs, because we need to come back on Wednesday and be ready to get back to work again.” The Marines, Sailors and Status of Forces Agreement personnel are participating in the campaign to “protect what you’ve earned” by spreading encouraging words to military members and their families. They are reminded to be good ambassadors to our host nation and to stay safe during the four-day weekend.

Marines with Company K, 3rd battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, provide indirect fire support during an integrated training exercise aboard Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Aug. 14, 2016. The Marines of Company K can set up and fire the M777 Howitzer within minutes of arriving at a location, providing quick and accurate fire support to Marines on the ground.

Col. Sean M. McBride and Sgt. Maj. Devon Lee pass on their command to Col. Brian Howlett and Sgt. Maj. Mario P. Fields. McBride was the commanding officer of III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF and Camp Hansen. Lee was the III MHG, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and Camp Hansen sergeant major.

Sgt. Maj. Lee D. Bonar Jr. and Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Michael J. Fasano address Marines and Sailors on Okinawa about the "100 days of Summer." The 100 days of Summer is a period in Okinawa when most heat-related mishaps occur. Bonar is the III Marine Expeditionary Force sergeant major and Fasano is the command master chief for III MEF.

Lt. Gen. Ho Yeon Lee, the commandant of the ROK Marine Corps visited Okinawa Jan. 29 to tour Marine Corps installations and discuss training between the U.S. and ROK Marine Corps.

U.S. Marine Corps Commandant, Gen. John F. Amos, the First Lady of the Marine Corps, Mrs. Amos and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, SgtMaj. Micheal Barrett, visit the U.S.S. Peleliu and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit during their Christmas Tour to visit forward deployed Marine forces. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
