Balikatan 24: 15th MEU Faces – Sgt. Jessa Bucsit
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jessa Bucsit, a food service specialist assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a Filipino native, describes her experience in the Marine Corps and the significance of returning to the Philippines to participate in Exercise Balikatan 2024 aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Somerset (LPD 25) during a port visit to Subic Bay, Philippines, April 20, 2024. Balikatan is a longstanding annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral capabilities, interoperability, trust, and cooperation. Somerset and embarked elements of the 15th MEU are conducting routine operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Cpl. Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise 2019: Mission Accomplished
The Commanding Officer, LtCol Joshua Anderson, and the Sergeant Major, SgtMaj Jeremy Sapp, of Special Purpose Marinie Air Ground Task Force - Alaska deliver a message to the Marines and Sailors of Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE). The Marines and Sailors of AECE conducted amphibious operations in austere conditions in Adak, Alaska. Approximately 3,000 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel participated in AECE 2019, a joint training exercise that tested expeditionary logistical capabilities in the Arctic region and prepared joint forces to respond to crises across the Indo-Pacific. AECE 2019: Realistic Training During Mass Casualty Scenario
Marines and Sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Alaska integrated to train in a mass casualty exercise to maintain preparedness and efficiency aboard the USS Somerset (LPD-25) on Sept. 13, 2019. The training proved the concept of being able to provide support in challenging terrain and climates. Approximately 3,000 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel participated in Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE), a joint training exercise that tested expeditionary logistical capabilities in the Artic region and prepared joint forces to respond to crises across the Indo-Pacific. U.S. Marines and Sailors attached to Task Force San Francisco participated in San Francisco Fleet Week, Oct. 1-8, 2018. Fleet Week offers the local community a chance to interact with the Marine Corps, as well as the other sea services through various exercises and community events. San Francisco Fleet Week is unique in that it provides local first responders an opportunity to partner with the nation’s military services in order to better prepare for potential humanitarian assistance or disaster relief efforts.
