PRESS RELEASE 2: Marine Killed during Routine Training Identified

The Marine who died during routine training in preparation for Service Level Training Exercise 5-23, here, at approximately 1:15 p.m. July 27, has been identified as Cpl. Shaik M. Jaman, a UH-1/AH-1 Helicopter Mechanic, and New York native. He was with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 369, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

“The Marine Corps shares its heartfelt condolences with the loved ones of Cpl. Jaman,” said Lt. Col. Aaron Polanco, Commanding Officer of HMLA-369. “This is a difficult time, and our primary mission right now is taking care of the family and our Marines. We appreciate your support and respect during this time.”

The incident is under investigation.

PRESS RELEASE 1: Death of Marine during Routine Training

MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, California (July 27, 2023) -- One Marine with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 369, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, was killed while conducting routine training in preparation for Service Level Training Exercise 5-23, here, at 1:14 p.m. today.

The incident is under investigation. The identity of the deceased Marine is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.
