Brandon King | June 3, 2016 Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona -- Do the names “Spice” (synthetic cannabinoids), “Diviners Sage” (Salvia Divinorum and Salvinorin A), “Powder Mushrooms” or “5-MEO-DMT” (5-Methoxy-Dimethyltryptamine), or “Blue Lotus” sound familiar? Those are just some of the street names out there for drugs that are abused and used with the intent to “get high.” Just like the civilian population, the Marine Corps also has a problem combating substance abuse. .

NEW MARINE CORPS TATTOO REGULATIONS

WASHINGTON -- The Marine Corps has released a new tattoo policy that seeks to balance the personal desires of Marines with high standards of professional military appearance and heritage. The Marine Corps Bulletin 1020, released June 2, 2016, explains the new Marine Corps tattoo policy, which replaces all previous tattoo policy guidance.

CARAT 2016 SERIES KICKS OFF INMALAYSIA, AIMING FOR INCREASED COMPEXITY WITH ALLIES AND PARTNERS

AL QUWEYRAH, Jordan -- Marines with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and the Jordanian 77th Marines Battalion honed conducted squad attacks as part of Eager Lion 16 in Al Quweyrah, Jordan, May 19. The focus of the training was fire and maneuver as a squad, which was put to the test with a patrol before taking simulated enemy fire. From there, Marines initiated buddy rushes down the line until reaching a trench.

FRENCH, U.S. COME TOGETHER DURING MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

BELLEAU, France -- Marines from 6th Marine Regiment and the 2nd Marine Division band traveled to Belleau, France, to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate, alongside their French Allies during a Memorial Day Ceremony on May 29, 2016.
Belleau Wood is the location of a bloody battle that occurred during WWI 98 years ago, in which the lives of many French and Americans were lost while combating against German soldiers. Though there was carnage around every turn, U.S. Marines never gave up fighting for themselves and for their French brothers-in-arms, eventually earning the nickname “devil dogs” from the Germans..” .
