The small boat riverine training course is part of KQ16 and is the continuation of a basic water survival course to familiarize MAF soldiers with different survival tactics that can be used during their deployment or U.N. missions.

ARTP is a Japan-funded, routine training exercise that allows Marines with 3rd BN, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, to conduct live-fire training. ARTP is special because it allows Marines to conduct the training they require to maintain their skills in expeditionary readiness and it also provides a means to interact with their local Japanese neighbors.
