Joshua J. Campbell
 

Joshua J. Campbell enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training in October 1998. After successful completion of Recruit Training and Marine Combat Training, Private First Class Campbell attended the Basic Music Course at the Naval School of Music. Upon graduation from the Basic Music Course in July 1999, Lance Corporal Campbell was transferred to the Marine Forces Pacific in Hawaii where he served as a percussionist, sound technician, and administrative assistant.

In July of 2001, Sergeant Campbell was transferred to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band in Miramar, CA, where he served as a percussionist, section leader, squad leader, and noncommissioned officer in charge of supply. In January of 2003 Sergeant Campbell was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, and joined the United States Navy.

Musician 3rd Class Campbell was assigned to the Navy Band Southwest in Coronado, CA, where he served as a percussionist, section leader, supply petty officer, and leading petty officer of the big band. In January 2006 he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps.

Sergeant Campbell received orders to the 2nd Marine Division Band in April 2006, where he served as a percussionist, section leader, fire team leader, and assisted the Instrument Repair Technician. In August 2007, Sergeant Campbell received orders to the Naval School of Music to attend the Unit Leader Course and Sound Reinforcement Course. Upon graduation, Sergeant Campbell stayed on staff as a Platoon Sergeant in the Marine Detachment, and later attended the Senior Musicians Course.

In April 2009, Staff Sergeant Campbell graduated from the Senior Musicians Course, and was selected as a Small Ensemble Leader. In May of 2009 he received orders, and was transferred to the 2nd Marine Division Band as the Small Ensemble Leader. During his tour of duty, he was selected as an Enlisted Conductor.

In May 2011, Staff Sergeant Campbell received orders, and was transferred to Marine Band New Orleans as the bands Enlisted Conductor. In December 2014, Staff Sergeant Campbell received orders, and was transferred to the Marine Forces Pacific Band in Hawaii to serve as the Band’s Small Ensemble Leader.

Gunnery Sergeant Campbell was promoted to his current rank in June 2016. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Commendation Medal.
