Chief Warrant Officer 2
Stephen J. Talbot
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Talbot was born on May 3rd, 1983 in Yorkshire, England to Peter and Jane Talbot and graduated from Harborfields High School on Long Island, New York. He attended the State University of New York at Buffalo before enlisting in the Marine Corps in May of 2003.
Upon completion of recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, PFC Talbot checked aboard the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In 2004, Lance Corporal Talbot graduated from the Basic Music Course and checked aboard the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band in Cherry Point, North Carolina for duty as a trombone instrumentalist. During this tour he was promoted to corporal and sergeant, and he served as the band's acting Small Ensemble Leader.
In 2007, Sergeant Talbot deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was attached to 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion for service as the Military Police section's Sergeant of the Guard for the Tactical Air Command Center.
In 2008, Sergeant Talbot transferred to the Quantico Marine Corps Band in Quantico, Virginia where he served as a trombone instrumentalist and the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the band’s training section.
In 2009, he attended the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music, and in 2010 was promoted to staff sergeant and transferred to the Albany Marine Band in Albany, Georgia where he was selected for the Small Ensemble Leader billet.
In 2012, Staff Sergeant Talbot transferred to the 2d Marine Division Band in Camp Lejeune, NC for service as Small Ensemble Leader. During this tour, he attended the Sound Reinforcement Course at the Naval School of Music and toured with the Marine Corps Jazz Orchestra as chief sound engineer.
In 2014, Staff Sergeant Talbot checked aboard the Naval School of Music for service as an instructor, where he also served as the Head of Basic Academics. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in 2016 while attending the Senior Musician Course.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Talbot was selected as the 2016 Staff NCO Musician of the Year by HQMC, was appointed to the rank of Warrant Officer on February 1st, 2018, and currently serves as the Director and Officer in Charge of the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band where he was promoted to his current rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2.

Bandmaster - Instrument Repair Technician
Master Gunnery Sergeant
Andrew D. Weege
Master Gunnery Sergeant Andrew Weege, of Merrill, Wisconsin graduated high school in 1991 and went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. In 1996, Master Gunnery Sergeant Weege graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. In April of 1997 Master Gunnery Sergeant Weege reported for recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina and Marine Combat Training. He then reported to the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia for instruction under the Basic Music Course.
In February of 1998, Lance Corporal Weege reported to the band at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California for duty as a guitarist. During his tenure there, he was promoted the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Weege was promoted to the rank of Sergeant after reporting to the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, Okinawa, Japan in March of 2000. He served as a guitarist, Combo Group Leader, Unit Purchaser, Supply Clerk, Platoon Sergeant, and assistant Instrument Repair Technician. In February of 2004 Sergeant Weege was promoted to Staff Sergeant and selected for MOS 5523, Instrument Repair Technician. In September of that year he filled the band’s vacancy as Instrument Repair Technician.
In August of 2005, Staff Sergeant Weege attended Minnesota State College, Southeastern Tech in Red Wing, Minnesota for the band instrument repair course. Upon graduation in June of 2006, he reported to the Second Marine Aircraft Wing Band in Cherry Point, North Carolina as the Instrument Repair Technician and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in February 2008.
In January of 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Weege reported once again to the band at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California for duty as Instrument Repair Technician. He was promoted to Master Sergeant in February of 2014.
In June of 2014, Master Sergeant Weege reported to the 3D Marine Aircraft Wing Band and in May of 2018 he transferred to Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band where he was promoted to his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and serves as the Instrument Repair Technician.

Drum Major
Staff Sergeant
James D. Mathis
SSgt Mathis was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1986. He graduated from North Davidson High School in 2005.
Shortly after graduation, SSgt Mathis enlisted and underwent Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Following recruit training he was sent to Camp Geiger, NC for four weeks of Marine Combat Training (MCT). After MCT, he was sent to the Naval School of Music Little Creek, Virginia for Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training at the Basic Musicians Course. Upon graduation, LCpl Mathis checked into the III MEF Band in Okinawa, Japan. While there, he served as the units Information Systems Coordinator, ensuring that every Marine had computer access as well as fixing all technical issues.
In May 2008 Cpl Mathis reported into the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing Band at MCAS Cherry Point, NC and was promoted to Sgt in June 2008. While there, he served as the Transportation NCOIC ensuring that all vehicles were properly checked in and out. He supervised travel of the band for over 10,000 miles ensuring the training of all coach bus drivers was done in a timely manner. He also served as the Assistant Drum Major and Administration NCOIC. As the Assistant Drum Major, Sgt Mathis led the band during drill rehearsals to prepare the unit for all upcoming commitments. He also coordinated and led the band in over 20 commitments.
In June 2011, Sgt Mathis reported to the MARFORPAC Band on MCB Kaneohe Bay, HI. There he also served as the Assistant Drum Major and Administration Chief leading the band in over 30 commitments and also assisted in three international TAD trips to Tonga, New Zealand and America Samoa. In August 2011, SSgt Mathis was promoted to his current rank.
In January 2013, SSgt Mathis reported back to the Naval School of Music to attend the Unit Leaders Course in Little Creek, Virginia. Upon graduation, he reported to the 2d Marine Division Band, at Camp Lejeune, NC. He served as the Assistant Drum Major, Administration Chief, Staff Duty Coordinator and French Horn Section Leader. As the Assistant Drum Major, he supervised countless hours of rehearsal time and ensured that all Marines met all standards published in the T&R Manual. He also served as the Platoon Sergeant and the Training Chief. While in this capacity he coordinated a heavy machine gun live fire, keeping the unit up to date and trained for their secondary mission, to serve as a machine gun platoon.
In April 2016, SSgt Mathis reported to the Quantico Marine Band where he served as the Drum Major. He was responsible for the Administration section, where he oversaw all commitment routing and outside correspondence, the Transportation section, where he supervised all unit transportation needs, and the Loading section. He was also responsible for all of the band’s travel plans, coordinating trips to Virginia Beach, VA, New York City, NY, Bridgeport, CT, New Orleans, LA, and an international trip to Hamina, Finland. While here, SSgt Mathis also attended the Force Fitness Instructor Course where he learned new and adaptive ways to train Marines in all areas of fitness.
His awards include the Navy and Marines Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Korean Defense Medal.

Amanda Kranendonk
Staff Sergeant Amanda Kranendonk is originally from Dunwoody, Georgia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance with an emphasis in oboe from Brigham Young University in 2006. There she studied with Dr. Geralyn Giovannetti. In the fall of 2006, SSgt Kranendonk began her master’s degree at Georgia State University studying with Dr. Lara Dahl.
SSgt Kranendonk enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 2008. After completing recruit and combat training in August 2008, Private First Class Kranendonk reported to the Marine Detachment, Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach. There she received further oboe instruction from Mr. Kevin Piccini. She also completed her master’s degree in music performance from Georgia State University.
Following graduation from the Naval School of Music in December 2008, Lance Corporal Kranendonk reported to Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia as an oboe instrumentalist for the Albany Marine Band. She also served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of woodwind quintet, double reed section leader, and the band’s Operations Chief. During this tour she was promoted to Corporal and Sergeant.
In May of 2012, Sergeant Kranendonk reported once again to the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach to serve as the oboe instructor. She also taught small ensembles for the school’s rehearsal division. In 2015 Sergeant Kranendonk was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for Instructor of the Year. That same year she was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In January of 2016, Staff Sergeant Kranendonk attended the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music. Following graduation in August of 2016, SSgt Kranendonk reported to the Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. She served as oboe instrumentalist, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of woodwind quintet, and interim Enlisted Conductor. In February 2020, SSgt Kranendonk was selected and currently serves as the band’s Enlisted Conductor.

Small Ensemble Leader
Staff Sergeant
Justin S. Holroyd
Staff Sergeant Justin Holroyd originally hails from Cheyenne, Wyoming and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps out of Recruiting Station Denver in September of 2006. He completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in December of 2006. After graduation from basic recruit training, and Marine Corps Combat training, he attended the Naval School of Music Basic Course in Norfolk, Virginia to receive instruction as a trombone instrumentalist.
Following graduation from the School of Music in September of 2007, Lance Corporal Holroyd reported to the 2nd Marine Division Band, in Camp Lejeune North Carolina. While stationed there he served as a trombone instrumentalist, live sound reinforcement technician, and band webmaster.
In August of 2010, Sergeant Holroyd was transferred to the Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band, in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. There he served as the Trombone Section Leader, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Brass Band, and Assistant Small Ensemble Leader.
In December of 2013, he received orders back to the Naval School of Music to attend the Unit Leader Course in Norfolk, Virginia. Following completion of the Unit Leader Course, Sergeant Holroyd was sent to the Quantico Marine Band in Quantico, Virginia. At Quantico, Sergeant Holroyd was promoted to Staff Sergeant and had the pleasure of being the band’s Platoon Sergeant, Acting Small Ensemble Leader, and the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the Brass Band.
In October of 2017, Staff Sergeant Holroyd received orders back to the Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band in Hawaii, and has been the band’s Small Ensemble Leader since March of 2018.
