U.S. Marine Sgt. Chad R. Pauls, center, shows members of the Royal Thai Marines an 81mm mortar round and explains the differences between Thai and U.S. Marine ordnance Feb. 12 during the Cobra Gold 2013 field training exercises in Ban Chan Krem, Kingdom of Thailand. U.S. involvement in CG 13 demonstrates commitment to building military-to-military interoperability with participating nations and to supporting peace and stability in the region. Royal Thai Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry. Pauls is a mortarman and squad leader with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. The battalion is attached to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, as part of the Marine Corps unit deployment program.
