Australian Army Brig. Mick Ryan addresses U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, and soldiers with 1st Brigade, Australian Army, Oct. 5 during a farewell ceremony hosted by 1 BDE at Robertson Barracks, Northern Territory, Australia. Ryan and U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Richard Simcock congratulated the Marines on their hard work and the amount of effort they’ve shown throughout their time partipating in training exercises, performing community services and immersing in Australian culture. The rotational deployment of U.S. Marines in Australia affords an unprecedented combined training opportunity with our allies and improves interoperability between our forces. Simcock is the commanding general of 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force and Ryan is the commander of 1 BDE.
