U.S. Marines with Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, sight in on simulated enemy combatants during helicopter raid training Aug. 7 at the Kangaroo Flats Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia. Along with the Marines, Australian soldiers with Delta Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, Australian Army, Australian Defence Force, used the bilateral training to familiarize their units with conducting a platoon-level assault on a simulated enemy encampment and securing intelligence. The rotational deployment in Darwin enables Marines to more effectively train, exercise and operate with their partners, enhancing regional security and building a capacity to respond more rapidly to natural disasters and crises throughout that region.
