CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii --  Marine Corps Community Services Hawaii is hosting its 22nd annual BayFest summer event July 15-17 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay. BayFest is the largest music event in Hawaii.

This year’s festival features performances by Hawaiian duo Cecilio & Kapono on Friday night, rockers Hoobastank and Puddle of Mudd on Saturday night, country artist Joe Nichols on Sunday night, and the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band as an additional act every night. Other attractions include a fireworks show, carnival rides and more.

Master Sgt. Gilberto Bernal, operations and training chief, Headquarters and Service Battalion, MARFORPAC, said the event is an effort to strengthen the relationship between the local community and Hawaii Marines.

“It also will provide the young Marines an opportunity to enjoy themselves in a safe environment, and at the same time, invite the local community to an event sponsored by the Marine Corps,” Bernal said.

Master Sgt. Ruby Finck, company first sergeant, Headquarters Company, HQSVCBN, MARFORPAC, is already selling BayFest tickets for MARFORPAC personnel.

The price of Friday’s concert will be $10. Saturday and Sunday concert tickets are $20 each day. Admission for just the carnival is $5, but carnival admission is included in the concert prices. Children ages five and younger are free.

Carnival ride wristbands will be available for Friday and Sunday. They can be purchased from www.ekfernandez.com or Ticketmaster locations.

For MARFORPAC personnel, buying the tickets early from your section staff noncommissioned officer saves you $5 per ticket Friday and $10 per ticket for Saturday and Sunday.

Finck said 20 percent of ticket sales through MARFORPAC will go toward the MARFORPAC Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

“Any money that we raise for the ball is going to define how much we charge for the tickets and how nice the ball is going to be,” Finck said.

Bernal said he recommends that MARFORPAC Marines, sailors and family members go and enjoy BayFest and use it as an opportunity to relax.

Bernal added that Marines should get out of the barracks and take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the food, activities and music at BayFest.

Parking will be assigned when guests arrive. There will be shuttles transferring people from event parking to the BayFest entrance.

For tickets, call Master Sgt. Ruby Finck at (808) 477-1252. For more information about BayFest, visit www.bayfesthawaii.com.
