CAMP H. M. SMITH, Hawaii -- Marines with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, gathered to recognize one of their own for outstanding service Feb. 1 here.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Kenneth H. Glass, MarForPac’s financial management resource officer, received a Meritorious Service Medal for his contributions as the fiscal officer for 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

According to his award citation, from Sept. 2007 to April 2010, Glass ensured more than $499 million were spent wisely in support of combat operations and saved the Marine Corps more than $20 million.

While serving in Iraq, Glass managed a $2.5 million account while providing supporting documentation to ensure American-tax payer dollars were spent efficiently in support of anti-terrorism and peace-keeping operations.

“This award covered my last two Iraq deployments,” Glass said. “Feels good to be recognized for 500-plus long days in Iraq.”

Glass has deployed to Iraq three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
