MARINE CORPS TRAINING AREA BELLOWS, Hawaii -- The United States Marine Corps Vision and Strategy 2025 places increased emphasis on sea-based operations, a mission well-suited to the core competencies of the Marine Corps. Further, Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) provides the perfect real-world training and experimentation environment to further evaluate the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab’s Enhanced Company Operations Limited Objective Experiment (ECO LOE4) at the Bellows training area.
Planned as an early morning evolution, the experiment’s stated purpose is to pick up the Marine Corps Commandant’s challenge and make it a reality, but within the context of a naval force conducting a sea-based operation in a complex and distributed battle space.
A capstone event for the ECO, this experiment features a Company Landing Team (CLT) formed around a Marine Infantry Company with an experimental table of organization. It features an array of concept-based technologies designed to lighten the load on individual Marines, improve network communications, and utilize unmanned ground technologies. These technologies will be evaluated for potential use in future Enhanced Marine Air Ground Task Force operations.
