Hawaiian community honors great monarch

The 93rd King Kamehameha Day Floral Parade was held here June 13. 

This annual parade celebrates King Kamehameha the Great, who united the Hawaiian Islands into one Kingdom.  It featured floats, mounted units of Pa’u Riders from Oahu, Kauai and Maui, and military and high school bands and marching units from Hawaii and the mainland.  The 4.3-mile parade route started at Iolani Palace in downtown Honolulu and made its way through Waikiki to Kapiolani Park. 

Thousands of residents and tourists alike lined the parade route to witness the annual spectacle of flowers and music.
