AFSOC announces 2006 safety award winners

The winners of the 2006 Commando Safety Awards have been announced by Air Force Special Operations Command today.

"I am deeply grateful to each award recipient," said Gen. Mike Wooley, AFSOC commander. "Their exceptional hard work and perseverance to keep AFSOC a safe and effective fighting force in the war on terrorism has not gone unnoticed."

The winners for 2006 are:

· Maj. Michael A. Lenhart, 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla. - Primary Duty Safety Officer of the Year

· Capt. Robert P. Robison, 17th Special Operations Squadron, Kadena Air Base, Japan - Additional Duty Flight Safety Officer of the Year

· Tech. Sgt. James D. Millsaps, 1st SOW, Hurlburt Field, Fla. - Primary Duty Flight Safety Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year

· Tech. Sgt. Juan Padilla Jr., 1st SOS, Kadena AB, Japan - Additional Duty Flight NCO of the Year

· Tech. Sgt. Jeffery T. Martin, 352nd Special Operations Group, RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom - Primary Duty Weapons Safety NCO of the Year

· Tech. Sgt. Vincent K. Lawhon, 353rd Maintenance Squadron, Kadena AB, Japan - Additional Duty Weapons Safety NCO of the Year

· Master Sgt. James E. Richardson, 353rd SOG, Kadena AB, Japan - Primary Duty Ground Safety NCO of the Year

· Tech. Sgt. Barry E. Neff, 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope AFB, N.C. - Additional Duty Ground Safety NCO of the Year

· 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla. - Safety Office of the Year

In addition to the individual awards, the following units will receive the Accident Free Flying Hour Awards Plate to place in their unit Commando Safety award frames:

· 1st Special Operations Wing: 4th SOS, 6th SOS, 8th SOS, 9th SOS, 16th SOS, 20th SOS, 73rd SOS, 319th SOS

· 352nd Special Operations Group: 352nd SOG, 7th SOS, 21st SOS, 67th SOS

· 919th Special Operations Wing: 919th SOW, 5th SOS

· 66th Air Operations Squadron
