Cpl. Darrell Jetter Headquarters Battalion G-1 and other Marines from Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, bow their heads in prayer at the 2005 Hawaii Prayer Breakfast at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, April 15.

Marines from Hawaii were invited to participate in the 26th annual prayer breakfast free of charge. A pre-breakfast concert was held, then the event kicked off with songs and passage readings, followed by motivational speeches and testimonies from several guests.

“I believe that the citizens of Hawaii, along with the entire nation, owe such a debt of gratitude to the Armed Forces,” said Gov. Linda Lingle.

Even if you aren’t openly religious, this was a good experience to participate in and see, according to Jetter.

“It’s definitely worth attending, faith plays a big part when you’re deployed, or away from home for any reason. It was nice of them to invite us out, it shows that they care,” said Jetter.

“It meant a lot to have our service members here, I never want to pass up a opportunity to say thank you,” said Lingle.
