Colonel Jeff Davis
Chief of Staff, U. S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific
Colonel Davis entered the Marine Corps from the NROTC program at Texas A&M University in 1987. His initial fleet tour was with 2d Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion where he served as a platoon commander for a HAWK missile support platoon and a firing platoon, deployed to Okinawa as part of a Unit Deployment Plan rotation, and served as battery Executive Officer supporting Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. Returning to CONUS, he served as the Commanding Officer of Battery A. His subsequent company grade assignments were: Operations Officer and RQ-2A pilot and mission commander at 1st Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Company, and Weapons and Tactics Instructor for HAWK and Stinger air defense missile systems at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1.
Field grade assignments were: Operations Officer of 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion; Marine Air Control Group 38 Detachment OIC with HMM 165 (REIN), 13th MEU(SOC) supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation ANACONDA; Assistant Operations Officer of MACG 38 deploying in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and IRAQI FREEDOM 1; and Operations Officer of MACG 38 deploying in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 2. He assumed command of Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 38 in May 2005 and deployed with the squadron, also serving as a 3d Marine Aircraft Wing (Fwd) Battle Captain, supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07; he relinquished command in May 2007.
After completing top level school he served as the Branch Head, Current Operations, at U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific from June 2008 to June 2009. Transferring back to 3d MAW, he commanded MACG 38 from November 2009 until September 2011, and Marine Aircraft Group 50 from November 2010 to September 2011. After relinquishing command he served as Assistant Wing Commander / Chief of Staff for 3d MAW (Fwd) / Regional Command (Southwest) Aviation Combat Element in Afghanistan supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 12.1.
He is a graduate of the USMC’s Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Amphibious Warfare School (Non-Resident), Command and Control Systems Course, Command and Staff College, and War College, and the USAF Air War College (Non-Resident). He holds a Masters Degree in Education from Chapman University and in Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps University.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V” and two Gold Stars, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Gold Star, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
