The Department of Defense does not tolerate sexual assault. The Department has implemented a comprehensive SAPR policy to ensure the safety, dignity and well-being of all members of the Armed Forces. Our men and women serving throughout the world deserve nothing less, and their leaders — both military and civilian — are committed to maintaining a workplace environment that rejects sexual assault and reinforces a culture of prevention, response and accountability. The DoD has instituted procedures for victims of sexual assault, including a confidential reporting option for eligible service members.
The SAPR program provides comprehensive services that center on awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy and overall system response. The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) ensures that victims of sexual assault are assigned a Uniformed Victim Advocate (UVA) or Installation Victim Advocate (VA) to ensure they receive appropriate and sensitive care. The SAPR program provides crisis intervention and support services to victims of sexual assault, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault, you are not alone. Help and support is available.
